The benefit of heating your pool with solar in the Northeast is: When your pool is closed or open you will enjoy free domestic hot water from the sun! Your solar pool system could also contribute to your winter space heating load in addition to supplying a large percentage of your domestic hot water.
 

Federal and State governments do not allow you to take any type of tax credit related to heating your pool only if you are heating your domestic hot water at the same time. An average 16’ X 32’ pool requires eight 4’X8’ panels to heat your pool to a comfortable level during May, June, September and October. Eight panels heating hot water for a small family of three when your pool is closed is an enormous hot water heating machine. These panels will significantly reduce your fossil fuel or electricity consumption during the entire year.
